California 3, Geibel Catholic 1 – Geibel Catholic tied the Section 2-A match, but California responded by winning the next two sets for a 3-1 victory Tuesday night in Section 2-A action.

California, Carmichaels and Geibel are all tied in second place with 8-3 records, two matches behind section-leading Frazier.

The Lady Trojans (9-4 overall) won the first set, 25-12, but the Lady Gators tied the match with a 25-23 victory in the second set.

California secured the win by winning the next two sets, 25-23, 25-19.

Anna Gillespie had a nice all-around effort for the Lady Trojans with 15 kills, two service points, 11 digs, and two blocks. Addie O’Savage (5 kills, 10 digs), Marlee Renner (5 kills, 6 digs), Hanna Engle (9 digs), and Morgan McBurnie (9 digs) also had solid games for California.

Shannon Watkins led Geibel with 29 assists. Paige Bogozi and Alexa Henckel played a solid defensive games with 35 and 25 digs, respectively. Amanda Antol finished with 11 kills and four aces.
