Roaring Lions close out golf season
Albert Gallatin graduate Charlie Fetzner earned second-team USCAA All-America honors in the season-ending PSUAC/USCAA Championship played Monday and Tuesday on the Penn State University Blue Course.
The Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus golfer shot 152 (78-74) to finish tied for eighth overall and place third among PSUAC golfers.
Gage Clark shot 165 (83-82) to finish tied for 56th place. Noah House tied for 73rd place at 171 (88-83). Austin Clark shot 174 (86, 88) to finish in a tie for 79th place. Jake DeBerry rounded out the Fayette lineup, tied for 104th place with 195 (102, 93).
The Roaring Lions’ Jarrod Sutton golfed as an individual, finishing tied for 42nd with 159 (81, 78).
Haley Brothers shot 201 (106, 95) and was honored on the 2017 USCAA National All-Academic Team for athletes with a 3.5 GPA or higher throughout the year. Brothers was also honored last year.
The Roaring Lions finished 13th in the national championship with a team total of 38-over 662 (335-327) and was fifth among PSUAC schools.
SUNY-Delhi won the national title with 28-over 604. SUNY-Delhi’s Russell Herbert was medalist with 1-over 145 (72-73).
Penn State Lehigh and Penn State DuBois tied for the PSUAC title at 635.
