Vikings score 38 unanswered points in 45-7 win
Youth tied the game late in the first quarter, then Mount Pleasant reeled off 38 unanswered points for a 45-7 home victory Friday night in Interstate Conference action.
The Vikings’ Cody Reese opened the scoring at 5:34 of the first quarter on a 9-yard pass from Lucas Pieszak, but the Cougars’ Jake Sever tied the game just over four minutes later.
Mount Pleasant (2-4, 3-5) scored just 13 seconds into the second quarter when Pieszak found Ryan Quinn open for a 60-yard touchdown pass. Pieszak completed 5-of-16 passes for 136 yards.
Bradley Tait hit a 32-yard field goal and Mike Govern scored on a 17-yard run to give the Vikings a 24-7 halftime lead.
Govern scored the lone touchdown of the third quarter on a 16-yard run and found the end zone again at 8:10 of the fourth quarter on a 9-yard run. He finished with 155 yards rushing on 20 carries.
Donavan Bair capped the scoring on a 1-yard run.
Dustin Shoaf carried the ball 24 times for 121 yards for Yough (1-4, 1-7).
