Leopards top Raiders

Belle Vernon 5, Waynesburg Central 1 – Belle Vernon jumped out to a 3-0 lead en route to a 5-1 non-section victory over Waynesburg Central on Saturday at James Weir Stadium.

Both schools have already clinched playoffs spots, but the Leopards (7-2-1, 14-1) jumped out to an early lead in the first half on goals by Chris McCullough, Aaron Brown and Markello Apodiakos.

Apodiakos and Hunter Martin added goals in the second half. Belle Vernon’s Jackson Guess tied the school record for assists with his 27th.

Cam Guess had two saves at keeper and TJ Watson also played in net.

The Leopards travel to Southmoreland on Monday in non-section at 7:30 p.m.
