Ringgold boys, girls win team titles at Mingo Classic
The Ringgold boys and girls cross country teams has a successful tuneup meet Thursday afternoon by winning the Class AA team titles on their home course at Mingo Park.
The Rams won the Mingo Classic team title with 29 points, with Elizabeth Forward second with 41. Waynesburg Central placed sixth with 159.
The Ringgold girls finished with 35 points to take the Class AA crown, just five points ahead of Elizabeth Forward. Waynesburg Central was fifth with 115 points. The West Greene girls placed second among Class A teams with 52 points.
Chartiers Valley’s Czar Tarr won the boys race in 16:02.47.
Albert Gallatin’s Jackson Core had a strong race, placing eighth overall with a time of 17:12.77.
Ringgold’s Eric Obringer finished 23rd overall in 17:59. Lucas Pajak (28, 18:16.77), Ethan Gamble (37, 18:43.44), Bennett Gorman (49, 19:06.38), and Ben Daerr (54, 19:14.51) rounded out the Rams’ top-5 team finishes.
All five of Ringgold’s runners placed in the top 10 for Class AA scoring.
Elizabeth Forward’s Mitchell Minda was 24th overall with a time of 18:00.76. Stephen Frost (35, 18:43.2), Christian Guinto-Brady (61, 19:19.41), Joram Stith (64, 19:22.77), and William Hebda (67, 19:27.51) were the top-5 team finishers for the Warriors.
Kullen Thorne led Waynesburg to the finish line in 88th overall with a time of 20:09.90. Gabe McConville (94, 20:20.91), Dylan Bird (102, 20:40.44), Nik Guess (137, 21:56.73), and Kyle Kindervater (138, 21:58.76) also factored in the Raiders’ final total.
West Greene’s Colton Anderson finished 99th in 20:31.48 and teammate Walker Lee placed 153rd in 23:07.46.
Upper St. Clair’s Savanna Shaw won the girls race in 18:12.35.
Ringgold’s Andrea Kassa (12, 21:02.52) and Autunm Lusk (22, 21:32.26) finished in the top 25. Kaylee Kassa (40, 22:22.65), Kaitlyn Lusk (63, 23:47.40), and Morgan Richards (81, 24:50.18) also factored in the Lady Rams’ winning total.
Hannah Hebda was the first Elizabeth Forward runner to finish with a time of 21:32.64, with teammate Bailey McLaughlin close behind in 27th place with a time of 21:42.59. Natasha Trainor (58, 23:37.49), Victoria Laing (65, 23:51.61), and Claire Miles (74, 24:25.38) rounded out the Lady Warriors’ top-5 team finishers.
Four of the five Lady Rams placed in the top 10 for Class AA team scoring, as did four of the Lady Warriors.
West Greene’s McKenna Lampe was 31st overall in 22:01.23, with twin sister Madison 35th in 22:07.14. Ashley Cumberledge was 42nd in 22:28.27. Jersey Wise (53, 23:22.22) and Rachel Jones (57, 23:29.94) closed out the scoring runs for the Lady Pioneers.
The Lampes and Cumberledge all placed in the top 10 for Class A scoring.
Kaitlyn Pester was the first Waynesburg girl to finish, placing 75th overall in 24:28.44. Emma Mankey (82, 24:56.71), Keira Fuqua (88, 25:09.77), Emily Woods (107, 26:41.35), and Lexie Zeiler (146, 32:11.85) also had scoring runs for the Lady Raiders.
