OLSH defeats Lady Bearcats, 6-2
The Bentworth girls scored in the opening minute, but Our Lady of the Sacred Heart recovered for a 6-1 victory Monday night in the first round of the WPIAL Class A soccer playoffs.
Paige Marshalek spotted the Lady Bearcats (11-6-2) the early lead when she found the back of the net just 38 seconds into the game.
OLSH (11-5-3) led 2-1 at halftime.
Jocelyn Timlin scored in the second half for Bentworth.
“Both defenses made a lot of mistakes tonight. Unfortunately for us, only OLSH converted on the mistakes,” said Bentworth coach Tyler Hamstra. “OLSH outplayed us tonight. We made to many mistakes defensively. Our defense has been a little suspect all season, but did very well overall. Tonight, we were found out.
“The score could of been 6-0 them, 6-0 us, 6-6, or anything in between.”
OLSH faces Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic (14-4-0) Thursday in the quarterfinals.
“I think OLSH can make a run for it if they pull it together,” added Hamstra.
