Belle Vernon jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first half en route to an 11-0 Section 2-AAA victory over Albert Gallatin on Wednesday at James Weir Stadium in girls’ soccer play.

The Lady Leopards’ Alexis Demko scored four goals and had two assists in the first, and teammate Isabella Laurita tallied a hat trick and two assists.

Belle Vernon’s Jill McCullough had one goal and teammate Jill Butchki also scored. Butchki added an assist.

The Lady Leopards’ Falyn Samoda and Courtney Vitale scored in the second.

Belle Vernon’s Grace Henderson had three saves and Erin Sassak also saw time at keeper for the home team.

The Lady Leopards had all 26 players on their roster get into the match.

Belle Vernon (3-0, 4-1) hosts Waynesburg Central (3-0, 4-1) this afternoon at 4 p.m. in non-section play.

The Lady Colonials (0-3, 0-5) look for their first win this season when they play at Monessen (1-2, 1-2) today at 4 p.m. in non-section action.
