Jacobs honored by PSAC

Seton Hill junior and Laurel Highlands graduate Dontay Jacobs was named the PSAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week after setting a school record in the 400 last week at the Raleigh Relays. Jacobs finished third with a time of 47.76 seconds.

Jacobs, three-time PSAC champion, is the lone NCAA Division II qualifying time in the 400. The Griffins, including Jacobs, finished fourth in the 1,600 relay in a time of 3:16.55.

Softball

Fowler recognized

California University of Pa. senior outfielder Jacquelyn Fowler was named the PSAC West Softball Athlete of the Week for her performance last weekend.

Fowler hit the game-tying home run with two outs in the top of the seventh inning of the second game to lift the Vulcans to a doubleheader sweep on the road at Gannon. Fowler scored four runs and had a 1.200 slugging percentage in the doubleheader.

She went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, two runs scored and a walk in the 3-2 victory in the nightcap.
