Carmichaels 7, Monessen 2 – Dana Vatakis’ pitching and seven Carmichaels errors led Monessen to a 7-2 Section 2-A victory on Tuesday at Carmichaels.

Vatakis had 13 strikeouts and two walks in seven innings. She allowed two runs on three hits.

The Lady Greyhounds (1-1, 2-1) jumped out to a 2-0 lead, Carmichaels (2-1, 4-3) tied the game in the fourth, but the visitors responded with four in the fifth and one in the seventh.

Monessen’s Mattie Telegraphis and Cara Wheeler doubled.

The Lady Mikes’ Emma Holaren tripled.

Carmichaels hosts West Greene (2-0, 5-1) this afternoon at 4:15 p.m. in section play.

The Lady Greyhounds are at Jefferson-Morgan (1-1, 2-1) on today at 3 p.m. in section play.
