Lady Cougars defeat Elizabeth Forward, 7-2

Nina Maroney nearly hit for the cycle and Kierra Waywood scattered eight hits Thursday afternoon as Yough remained unbeaten in Section 2-AAAA play with a 7-2 win at Elizabeth Forward.

The Lady Cougars improve to 4-0 in the section and 7-1 overall, and play at Belle Vernon this afternoon. The Lady Warriors go to 3-1 in the section and 7-1 overall.

Elizabeth Forward led 1-0 and 2-1, but Yough scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning for a 4-2 lead. They added two runs in the top of the sixth inning and one more in the seventh.

Waywood allowed one earned run, striking out seven and walking none.

Maroney finished with a single, double and triple, one run scored and an RBI. Kaylyn Odelli had a double and single, and Hannah Christner belted a home run and drove in three runs.

Karlie Clark drove in two for the Lady Cougars.

Kailey Larcinese allowed six earned runs on nine hits with seven strikeouts and two walks. She also went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Brianna Servesic had a pair of singles, and Taylor Ludwick doubled and drove in a run.
