Lady Falcons clinch four straight playoff berth in track & field
Brownsville clinched its fourth straight playoff appearance in girls track & field with an 88-52 Section 6-AA victory over Beth-Center at Charleroi High School.
The Lady Falcons improved to 7-0 this season, and are 31-3 the past four years.
Brownsville broke the school record in the 1,600 meter relay in 4:43.11. Sai Waqanivalu, Jessica Vance, Jamilah Copeland and Gionna Quarzo teamed up for the victory.
Quarzo won the 1,600 in 5:22, the 3,200 in 11:23.61 and teamed with Jessica Vance, Sara Vance and Ashton Reposky to win the 3,200 relay in 10:53.80.
Copeland won the 100 in 13.22, 200 in 27.83 and teamed with Amari Fowler, Tyler Mayers and Aniya Tarpley to win the 400 relay in 53.91. Mayers won the 100 high hurdles in 17.48 and Sara Vance won the 800 in 2:42.73. Tarpley won the long jump in 14-10 and triple jump in 31-6.
The Lady Bulldogs’ Mikayla Kanilis won the shot put (27-10) and discus (77-8). Teammate Kennedy Kuhns won the javelin in 128-8.
Beth-Center’s Markie Lewis won the high jump in 4-2.
The Falcons suffered an 88-48 setback to the Bulldogs.
Nick Seto, Lucas Kremposky, Noah Biggs and Ray Brumley started things off well for Brownsville with a win in the 3,200 relay with a time of 9:23.33. Seto won the triple jump at 41-10 ½.Teammate Grant Lima won the 100 meter dash in 12.39.
Brownsville’s Brian Boyd won the 3,200 in a time of 13:22.
Beth-Center’s Ronnie White won the shot put (42-3) and discus (133-3). Teammate Anthony Herman won the javelin with a throw of 145-8.
Both teams return to section play on Tuesday against Bentworth at Charleroi. The meet is scheduled to start at 3:30.
