Trojans hang on for 8-4 win over Bulldogs

California 8, Beth-Center 4 – California jumped to a 6-0 lead and hung on for an 8-4 Section 1-AA victory over Beth-Center on Friday at Bulldogs Stadium.

The Trojans (3-2, 3-3) held a 6-0 lead after the second inning before the Bulldogs (1-2, 2-3) cut the deficit to 6-2 heading into the top of the fifth.

California added two more in the fifth for an 8-2 lead. Beth-Center scored one in the fifth and one in the seventh.

Jacob Swartz earned the win after striking out four and walking one. Teammates Brendan Sheehan and Brody Connor doubled. Sheehan also added a single.

The Bulldogs’ Bailey Lincoski doubled and singled, and teammates Ryan Ross, Dylan Dingle and David Morris each had two base hits apiece.

Cameron Palmer took the loss. He had two strikeouts and walked one.
