Blue Devils top Commodores in extra innings, 5-2
Burgettstown 5, Fraizer 2 – Burgettstown scored three runs in the top of the eighth for a 5-2 Section 1-AA victory over Frazier on Saturday at Frazier.
The Blue Devils (2-5, 3-5) scored one run in the top of the first inning, but the Commodores (1-4, 2-5) tied the game with a run in their half of the first.
Burgettstown took a 2-1 lead in the sixth, and held the lead into the seventh before Frazier tied the game at 2-2 on Shane McGavitt’s sacrifice fly.
The Commodores’ JD Celaschi, Logan Kulikoski, Mason Kelly and starting pitcher Josh Skotnicki all had one single apiece.
Skotnicki allowed four runs on six hits in 7.2 innings. He had six strikeouts and walked two in taking the loss.
Blaine John allowed two runs on four hits in eight to pick up the win. He had six strikeouts and walked four.
Frazier travels to Burgettstown on Monday at 4 p.m.
