By The 1 min read

Frazier 4, Chartiers-Houston 3 – Frazier kept its playoff hopes alive with a 4-3 win at Chartiers-Houston in a Section 1-AA baseball battle on Thursday.

The win pulls coach Craig Kordich’s Commodores (3-6, 2-5) within one game in the loss column of the now fourth-place Bucs (6-5, 5-4).

Winning pitcher Trevor Hayes scattered 11 hits while walking two and striking out two.

Frazier took a 1-0 lead in the fourth, then scored three times in the fifth as Mason Kelly, Tim Sedok and Josh Skotnicki each singled and Logan Kulikoski produced an RBI fielder’s choice.

Chartiers-Houson fought back with three runs in the bottom of the frame, but Hayes blanked them in the seventh to wrap up the win.

Kelly, Sedok and Skotnicki had two hits apiece and Kulikoski knocked in two runs.

Losing pitcher Zach Southern coughed up eight hits and one walk while striking out seven in going the distance.
