Lady Colonials snap 2-game losing skid with walk-off win
Albert Gallatin 4, McKeesport 3 – Lily Wilson scored the winning run on Hannah Umble’s grounder in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Albert Gallatin a 4-3 win over visiting McKeesport in their Section 2-AAAAA softball game on Thursday.
Lindsey Robinson doubled to start the rally with Wilson entering as a pinch runner. Umble hit a one-out grounder that eluded the Lady Tigers’ third baseman, allowing Wilson to come around and score.
The victory snapped a two-game losing skid for the Lady Colonials (8-2, 7-2), who hit three home runs, and kept them alone in first place in the section.
AG took a 2-0 lead in the first on solo home runs by Annalia Paoli and Katie Kelly.
The scored stayed that way until the top of the sixth when Jhayla Bray’s two-run homer keyed a three-run rally that put McKeesport on top 3-2.
The lead was short-lived as Maddie Flowers’ solo homer in the bottom of the frame pulled the hosts even and set the stage for Umble and Wilson to win it.
Flowers allowed only three hits and two earned runs with no walks and four strikeouts to earn the win. Maddy Hershberger had three hits, including a pair of doubled for Albert Gallatin.
Losing pitcher Kaylie Yester pitched well in defeat, giving up three earned runs on seven hits with no walks and two strikeouts for the Lady Tigers (2-7, 2-6).
