WPIAL team track playoff sites set

The quest for a WPIAL track & field team title begins Tuesday afternoon for several local squads.

The team with the best record at each of the four semifinal sites in both Class AAA and Class AA avdvances to the WPIAL Team Championships on Monday, May 7, at Baldwin High School.

Waynesburg Central is one of the Class AA host sites. The Waynesburg boys and girls face Derry and Mohawk at 4 p.m. for the opportunity to advance to the Class AA final.

The undefeated Brownville girls, the Section 6-AA champions, along with Southmoreland and Burrell, travel to South Park in one Class AA semifinal. The Scotties are also at South Park, along with Washington.

The Belle Vernon girls, undefeated champions of Section 2-AAA, and Uniontown, the section runner-up the Lady Leopards, join Hempfield and Moon in the Class AAA semifinal hosted by Baldwin. The Red Raiders, the second-place team in Section 2-AAA, also compete at Baldwin.

The Connellsville boys, Section 2-AAA champs, join Beaver and Mt. Lebanon at North Allegheny. The Lady Falcons, who tied Uniontown for second place, Hampton and Mt. Lebanon also travel to North Allegheny.
