Colonials keep on winning with 214-234 victory
The Colonials’ Aaron Fetzner had the low round of the day, firing a 3-over 38 Monday afternoon in Albert Gallatin’s 214-234 Section 2-AAA victory against visiting Connellsville at Duck Hollow Golf Club.
Albert Gallatin remains undefeated as the season turns into the second week, improving to 2-0 in the section and 3-0 overall. The Falcons are 0-1 in the section and 1-2 overall.
Ethan Davis, the Colonials’ No. 2 man, carded a 41 to give the home squad a solid 12-stroke lead after the first foursome finished. Chase Richardson, Connellsville’s No. 1, shot 41 and his playing partner Mike McKitrick finished with a 50.
Both teams throw out score came in the middle pairing with Connellsville’s Nate Stefano (54) and Albert Gallatin’s Jacob Elias (48) finishes not counting in final total.
“Our top three are playing steady,” said Albert Gallatin coach Bernie Wydo.
The Falcons’ Bobby McLuckey shot 50, while the Colonials’ Jarred Provance carded a 45.
Albert Gallatin held a slight 90-93 advantage in the final foursome. Matt Karpeal shot 43 and Chandler Goodwin had 47 for the Colonials. Zak Koslosky carded a 46 and Gage Goodwin closed out the scoring with a 47 for Connellsville.
“We need more consistency from our bottom three. The have to start making less errors, just fundamental course management,” said Wydo.
The Colonials have a busy week with a non-section home match today against rival Uniontown and two road section matches, Wednesday against Thomas Jefferson at Butler’s Golf Course and Friday against the undefeated Belle Vernon Leopards at Cedarbrook Golf Course.
“I told them we have to split with Thomas Jefferson and Belle Vernon over the year, or sweep one if the other sweeps us. If we split with them, I think we make the playoffs,” said Wydo. “We are in control if we keep winning. I want them to see that now and understand that before (we play Thomas Jefferson and Belle Vernon).”

Belle Vernon 215, Ringgold 249 – Belle Vernon had a solid performance throughout its lineup with four of its five scores 43 or lower in Monday’s 215-249 victory against visiting Ringgold in Section 2-AAA action at Cedarbrook Golf Course.
The Leopards remain undefeated in the young season, improving to 2-0 in the section and 3-0 overall. The Rams go to 0-2 in the section and 0-3 overall.
Belle Vernon’s Joe Myers, playing at No. 2, was the medalist with a 5-over 41. Myers’ playing partner Jake Caldwell shot 42. Justin Young and Tyler Mocello both finished with 43. Tom Huffman closed out the scoring with a 46. Luke Long also shot 46.
Nick Kolano was the low man for the Rams with a 10-over 46. Seth Callaway shot 49. Cole Bianchi finished with 47. Trent Gerard (52) and Josh Peters (55) also factored in the final score. Kevin Feld’s 56 was not used.

Greensburg C.C. 235, Frazier 244 – Zach Boote led the way for the visiting Centurions, as Greensburg Central Catholic returned home from Linden Hall Golf Course Monday afternoon with a 235-244 victory against Frazier in Section 2-AA action.
The Centurions improve to 3-0 in the section, while the Commodores slip to 1-2.
Boote was medalist with a 1-over 38.
Isabella Kudyba was low for Frazier with a 7-over 44. Bryanna Bakos shot 45 and Chase Hazelbaker finished with 47. Elyse Elliott (53) and Emi Curcio (55) also counted in the final score. Tyler Hoffman’s 56 was not used.

Uniontown 222, Brownsville 255 – The Rugola sisters combined to shoot 1-over Monday afternoon as the Uniontown golf team remained undefeated in Section 8-AA with a 222-255 road victory against Brownsville at Carmichaels Golf Club.
Uniontown improves to 3-0 in the section, while the Falcons slip to 1-3 in the section.
Danae Rugola fired a medalist round of 1-under 36, while her younger sister Adena finished with a 2-over 39.
Nate Moody shot 46 and Michael Mercadante finished with 49 for the Red Raiders. Maddie Myers closed the scoring with a 52. Gage Brugger’s 59 did not count in the final tally.
Dalton Mullen was the low man for the Falcons with a 4-over 41. Lindsay Sethman shot a 46. Caleb Olesko (53), EJ Victor (57), and Dylan Cavanaugh (58) rounded out the scoring. Jake Defigio’s 60 was not used.

Bentworth 230, Burgettstown 234 – The Bearcats’ Luke Dziak shot a 1-over 36 Monday afternoon in Bentworth’s 230-234 Section 4-AA victory over visiting Burgettstown at Chippewa Golf Club.
Bentworth improves to 2-1 in the section and 3-1 overall. The Blue Devils go to 1-2.
Austin Marshalek (42) and Cameron Puskarich (49) broke 50 for the Bearcats. Justin Kisner (51) and Cede Smith (52) also counted in the final score.
David Scruppi was the low man for Burgettstown with a 42. Gia Hooper (43), Gabe Lis (48), Dylan Sherman (49), and Scott Ferris (52) rounded out the scoring.

Waynesburg Central 200, Beth-Center 237 – Trevor Boris and MaCottie Denjen both shot 2-over 37 Monday afternoon to lead Waynesburg Central to a 200-237 road victory in a Section 8-AA match played at Chippewa Golf Club against Beth-Center.
The Raiders improve to 3-2 in the section and 4-2 overall, while the Bulldogs go to 0-4 in the section and 0-5 overall.
Ray Behm shot a 40 for the Raiders, and Kyle Shriver, Lucas Garber and Richard Bortz all finished with 43.
Beth-Center’s Noah Wible shared medalist honors with a 37. Dylan Shushura (47), Genin King (46), Anthony Dellapenna (50), and Blake Shushura (53) also counted in the final score. Nick’s Skariot’s 59 was not used.

Carmichaels 203, California 291 – Carmichaels didn’t count a score over 43 Monday afternoon as the Mikes cruised to a 203-291 win against California at Cedarbrook Golf Course (Red course) in Section 8-AA action.
The Mikes improve to 4-0 in the section, while the loss was the opening match for the Trojans.
Carmichaels’ Matthew Barrish was the medalist with a 2-over 37. Remmey Lohr shot 40. Ethan Greene finished with a 41. Delaney Lohr carded a 42 and Taggart Shea closed the scoring with a 43. Jessica Welsh’s 49 was not used.
Jacob Thomas and Trucker Roberts both shot 52 for California. Phillip Stewart finished with 57. Steven Martin (64) and Randall Molek (66) rounded out the scoring.
