Lady Falcons pull away from Greensburg Salem, 58-44
Connellsville 58, Greensburg Salem 44 – Connellsville clinched at least a tie for third place in Section 3-AAAAA with a 58-44 victory over visiting Greensburg Salem in girls basketball action on Thursday night.
The loss knocked the Lady Lions (6-13, 3-8) out of postseason contention and, thus, clinched a playoff spot for Uniontown.
Sara Aumer led the Lady Falcons (9-10, 6-4) with 16 points, and Baileigh Bishop and Megan Haggerty added eight apiece.
Megan Kallock poured in a game-high 33 points for GS, and Nikki Melinger added 10, accounting for all but one of the visitors’ points.
Greensburg Salem was up 13-7 heading into the second period when Connellsville surged to a 21-20 halftime lead. The Lady Falcons outscored the Lady Lions 19-12 in the third period to take control, 40-32, then pulled away in the final frame.
