Greyhounds fall to CW North Catholic in overtime, 60-55
CW North Catholic 60, Monessen 55 – Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic outscored visiting Monessen 6-1 in overtime in to pull out a 60-55 win in a non-section boys basketball clash on Monday night.
Lyndon Henderson hit six 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 25 points but it wasn’t enough as the Class 1-A Greyhounds (13-8) saw their nine-game winning come to an end.
The Class 3-A Trojans (11-11) fell behind 20-12 in the first period but pulled even at 30-30 by halftime. The score remained deadlocked at the end of three periods, 40-40, and at the end of regulation, 54-54.
Henderson made three of his treys in the fourth period and Monessen had a chance to win the game in the final seconds but a deflection prevented the visitors from getting off a shot.
Mike Drambel led North Catholic with 18 points and was followed by Ryan Feczko (13), John Fukon (11) and Zach Rocco (10).
Elijahwa Payne added 13 points for the Greyhounds. Both teams are in the WPIAL playoffs.
