Farmington Legion rallies for 8-5 win

Farmington rallied from a 5-2 deficit Monday night for an 8-5 road victory at Carmichaels in Fayette American Legion Baseball League action.

Farmington improves to 6-5 and remains in contention for an opening-round home playoff game when the tournament begins Sunday.

Carmichaels slips to 1-12.

Farmington scored two runs in the top of the first inning, but the home team rallied for five runs in the bottom of the third inning. Logan Mayhle, Zach Hillsman, Damyn Crick, Noah Streit and Matt Barrish had an RBI in the inning.

The visitors scored four runs in the top of the fifth inning to regain the lead and added a couple of insurance runs in the top of the seventh.

Jeremy Saliba pitched the final 4.2 innings to earn the win. He allowed one run (unearned) on one hit with nine strikeouts and two walks.

Kaine Frye, Nolan Sennett and John Harim all doubled for Farmington. Trent Uphold led with three singles. Frye, Sennett, and Alan VanSickle all finished with two hits.

Frye and Harim both knocked in two runs.

Hillsman went 2-for-3 for Carmichaels.

Fayette County League

Carmichaels 6, Bill’s Bit Service 1 — Darren Krause’s two-out, two-run single in the top of the seventh inning provided insurance runs for the visitors in Fayette County Baseball League action.

Brock Bonadio’s single then brought home the sixth run of the game.

The Copperheads improve to 6-2, while Bill’s Bit Services goes to 5-3-1.

Carmichaels scored one in the top of the third inning and extended the lead to 3-0 in the top of the fourth.

Bill’s Bit Service scored its lone run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Hunter Robinson started and pitched 5.2 innings for the win. He allowed one earned run with six strikeouts and two walks.

Nate Torbich picked up the final four outs to earn the save. He didn’t have a strikeout or walk.

Brody Bonadio doubled for Carmichaels, while Krause, Joel Spishock and Brock Bonadio all had two hits.

Chaz Phillips led Bill Bit’s Service with three singles.
