Campy’s Pizza extends winning streak to 21 games
Campy’s Pizza clinched its second consecutive regular season title Tuesday night, and extended its league record winning streak to 21 games with a 72-65 win over second-place Farmers Insurance the boys division of the Budd Grebb Memorial Basketball League.
Up 37-35 at the half, Campy’s Pizza (9-0) was able to hold off Farmers Insurance (7-2) in a hotly-contested game.
“Another big run at the end of the game did it,” said Campy’s coach Bill Greco. “We were fortunate that a couple of guys stepped up with big plays at the end.”
“The team played hard and spirited,” said Farmers Insurance coach Dana Zajicek. “We kept the game close by working the ball on offense to create easy shots, but in the end, we just didn’t finish.”
Lyndon Henderson (Monessen) led Campy’s Pizza with 25 points, while Mitch Pohlot (Belle Vernon) had a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds.
Philip Pace (Brownsville) led Farmers Insurance with 28 points and 10 rebounds. Jared Hartman (Belle Vernon) added 11 points and Legend Davis (Charleroi) finished with 11 points and seven rebounds.

Up 29-26 at the half, Bee Graphix (6-3) played Northwood Realty (3-6) even in the second half to clinch the third seed.
“Playing without a key starter, we played well together and locked it down in the last three minutes,” said Bee Graphix coach Bob Kennedy. “We adjusted our pressure in the last five minutes to throw them off.
“We would go up 10, they would come back. We would go up six and they would come back. We did what we had to do to win.”
