Rochester women win Division I crown
Paul Quinn College made a run in the second quarter, but Rochester College responded with a solid second half to win the women’s Division I title of the USCAA National Basketball Championships, 72-57, held at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus.
Rochester (23-6) led 20-14 after the first quarter, but Paul Quinn cut the deficit to three, 34-31, at halftime.
Rochester outscored Paul Quinn in the second half, 38-26, to secure the victory.
The Valkos, Devan and Maddy, both scored 16 points to lead Rochester. Allyssa Copley had a double-double with 15 rebounds and 13 points. Beth McCord added finished with 14 points.
Teanna Frances-Henderson and Amanda Cruz shared scoring honors for Paul Quinn (21-9) with 14 points apiece. Alexis Johnson added 11.

Johnson & Wales (N.C.) 75, Central Maine Community College 64 — Johnson & Wales captured the women’s Division II national title by handing Central Maine Community College’s first loss of the season behind Chase Muhammed’s game-high 24 points.
Johnson & Wales (21-4) led 23-13 after the first quarter and 41-28 at the half. Central Maine (30-1) made a run in the third quarter with a 19-13 scoring advantage, but Johnson & Wales secured the victory in the fourth quarter, 21-17.
Ineesha Hankerson finished with 16 for Johnson & Wales. Vanderia Shackleford (11) and Jaquana Pauling (10) also scored in double figures.
Jane Lester came off the bench to score a team-high 16 points for Central Maine. Kristen Huntress added 12.
