Bulldogs open season with 13-3 victory
Beth-Center scored nine runs in the bottom of the third inning Friday as the Bulldogs opened the season with a 13-3 victory in five innings over Washington at Wild Things Park.
Back-to-back squeeze plays by Drake Zellie and Andrew Bower sparked the big inning for the Bulldogs. Ryan Ross also had a bases-loaded double to plate two runs in the inning.
Washington led 2-1 after the first inning, but the Bulldogs tied the game with a run in the bottom of the second.
The Prexies regained the lead with a solo run in the top of the third inning.
Beth-Center added two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The mercy rule was called when the Prexies were held scoreless in the top of the fifth inning.
Anthony Dellapenna pitched the third and fourth innings to earn the win. He allowed one unearned run with one walk and one strikeout.
Andrew Fowler led the Bulldogs at the plate, going 3-for-3 with an RBI. Noah Meyers and Ross both had two hits with Meyers also driving in a run.
Beth-Center is scheduled to play at Jeannette on Monday.
