Bucs defeat Carmichaels in 12 innings, 7-6

Chartiers-Houston 7, Carmichaels 6, 12 innings – Chartiers-Houston defeated Carmichaels for the second time in as many days on Wednesday, but the Bucs needed 12 innings to secure the victory.

Chartiers-Houston edged the Mikes, 7-6, with a single run in the top of the 12th inning.

The victory pulls the Bucs to within 1½ games of the Section 1-AA-leading Mikes. Carmichaels (10-4) has a 10-3 section record and closes the section schedule Friday against Burgettstown.

Chartiers-Houston (9-6) is tied with California in third place at 8-4 with games against Fort Cherry and Beth-Center.

Fort Cherry trails Carmichaels by two games in the win column.

The Bucs led 1-0 through two innings and then both teams scored five runs in the third inning.

Carmichaels tied the game with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Zack Baird pitched the final 6.2 innings for the win, allowing no runs on two hits. He struck out seven and walked two.

Roman Lombardi had a pair of singles and drove in three runs for Chartiers-Houston. Andrew Clark finished with three singles.

Logan Mayhle took the loss, pitching the final five innings. He allowed one unearned run on four hits with six strikeouts and one walk.

Matt Barrish had double and single for the Mikes. Nick Mundell and Dylan Wilson both drove in two runs. Wilson also hit a home run.
