Local athletes fare well at Baldwin Invitational
Belle Vernon freshman Grace Henderson continued her solid season Friday with a pair of second-place finishes at the Baldwin Invitational.
Henderson finished second in the 1,600 (5:20.20) and high jump (5-4½), both marks breaking her school records.
Teammate Hannah Seitzinger broke her school record in the 400 with her third-place finish in 59 seconds.
The Leopards’ Hunter Martin made his mark in three events, finishing fourth in the triple jump (43-1½) and fifth in both the 110 high hurdles (15.59) and long jump (21-7). The 3,200 relay team of Isaac Evans, Jake Sepesky, Reid Bagiatis and Brett Seich finished second in 8:23.72.
Connellsville’s Cameron Sapola finished fifth in the javelin. The Lady Falcons’ Callie Cunningham was seventh in the 800 in 2:23.01 and Rachael Grimm placed eighth in the 400 in 1:01.13.
Waynesburg Central’s Daniel Layton finished third in the 110 high hurdles with a time of 15.22 seconds. Laurel Highlands’ Junior Salauca was sixth in 15.90 seconds.
The Ringgold boys finished seven in the 1,600 relay with a time of 3:34.72.
Brownsville sophomore Gionna Quarzo won the 1,600 in a time of 5:14.53 and finished second in the 3,200 with a time of 11:04.91.
