Frazier rally falls short in 10-9 loss to Rangers

Fort Cherry 10, Frazier 9 – Frazier fell behind Fort Cherry early in Tuesday’s Section 1-AA game and the Commodores fought back, but the rally came up short by a run in a 10-9 home loss.

The Commodores slip to 3-10 in the section and 4-11 overall. Fort Cherry secures a playoff spot (and eliminates Beth-Center) with the win, improving to 9-4 in the section.

The Rangers scored six in the top of the first inning, two coming home on Cameron Schaub’s home run.

The visitors added another run in the top of the second, but the Commodores responded with five runs in the bottom of the inning.

JD Celaschi, Mason Kelly and Timmy Sedok all had one RBI in the rally.

Fort Cherry added a run in the top of the third inning, but Frazier came back once again to take a 9-8 lead in the bottom of the fourth.

Shane McGavitt’s single and Trevor Hayes’s double were the key hits in the 5-run inning.

The Rangers tied the game with a run in the top of the sixth inning and scored the game-winner in the top of the seventh.

Celaschi finished with three hits and three RBI for the Commodores. Hayes, Logan Kulikoski, and Jacob Olbrys all had two hits. Hayes drove in a couple.

McGavitt took the loss in relief of Chase Hazelbaker.
