Malone, Mill Run blank Mitch’s Bail Bonds

Jimmy Malone had 14 strikeouts and Mill Run scored four runs in the fifth for a 4-0 shutout over Mitch’s Bail Bonds on Thursday in Fayette County Baseball League action at Mill Run Park.

Malone allowed three hits, all singles, in seven innings for the complete-game victory in the opener for both teams.

The Millers (1-0) drew two walks and had three hits in scoring four runs in the fifth. Cade Warrick walked with one out and Cole Shearer singled before both scored on Kris Firestone’s double for a 2-0 lead.

Corey Fogle walked and Tanner Orndorff’s two-run single scored Firestone and Fogle.

Firestone added a single and Shearer doubled and added another base hit.

Josiah Fisher took the loss. He yielded four earned runs on 10 hits in five with nine strikeouts and three walks.

Mill Run hosts Carmichaels on Monday at 6 p.m.

Mitch’s Bail Bonds 4, AMD Industries – Mitch’s Bail Bonds scored once in the bottom of the second inning Friday night and that’s all a trio of pitchers needed to secure a 4-0 Fayette County Baseball League victory over visiting AMD Industries.

Mitch’s Bail Bonds (1-1) scored once in the bottom of the fourth inning and twice in the fifth.

Tyler Spohn started and went five innings for the win. He struck out eight and walked one. Ronnie Kachman pitched the seventh for the save, striking out one.

Zach Skatell had a run-scoring double in the fifth for Mitch’s Bail Bonds. Connor Bannias also doubled in the win. Jack Oberdorf finished with three singles and Michael Klingensmith had a pair for the home team.

Louden Conte finished with two singles for AMD Industries (0-1). Jake Swartz went the distance in the loss, giving up two earned runs on eight hits with six strikeouts and one walk.
