Greyhounds shut out Mapletown, 42-0
Vaughn Taylor rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns Friday night to lead visiting Monessen to a 42-0 victory in Tri-County South Conference action at Mapletown.
The Greyhounds improve to 5-1 in the conference and 6-1 overall. The Maples slide to 0-5 in the Tri-County South Conference and 0-8 overall.
Taylor needed just six carries to reach the century mark on the ground, including touchdown runs of 4 and 68 yards.
The Greyhounds’ Devin Whitlock caught three passes for 80 yards, including a 45-yard touchdown reception. Dawayne Howell completed 9-of-14 passes for 194 yards and touchdown passes to Whitlock, Darnell Howell (20 yards), and Antwon Tucker (33 yards). Isaiah Beltram also scored a touchdown on a 3-yard run.
Zach Greene led the Maples with 17 yards rushing on seven carries. Max Vanata completed 1-of-9 passes for five yards with the completion going to Max Vanata.
