Jones’ two-point run the difference in Mikes’ 16-14 win
Bailey Jones’ two-point conversion run proved to be the winning points in Carmichaels’ 16-14 non-conference victory over Union on Friday at Carmichaels Area High School.
The Mikes (0-5, 1-6) trailed the Scotties, 14-8, heading into the fourth quarter. Carmichaels quarterback Kevin Kelly scored on a one-yard run to tie the game before Jones’ heroics.
Union (2-4, 3-5) jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the second quarter when Michael Flowers scored on a one-yard run. The Mikes tied the game on Kelly’s two-yard and Jones pulled in the reception for the two-point conversion to give the home team an 8-6 lead at halftime.
Anthony Neely pulled in a 54-yard touchdown reception from Tyler Benedict and Flowers caught the two-point conversion pass from Benedict to give the Scotties a 14-8 advantage.
Carmichaels travels to Perryopolis next Friday to play Frazier (2-3, 3-5) in an Interstate Conference matchup at 7 p.m.
