Abraham picks up Big 12 honor
Albert Gallatin graduate and Fairchance native Hannah Abraham was named the Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week after scoring three goals in two West Virginia wins in women’s soccer action this weekend.
The Mountaineers (7-1, 11-3-3) scored two goals at Oklahoma on Sunday, including the game winner, and had the match winner in West Virginia’s 2-1 win at Oklahoma State on Friday. Abraham’s honor is the first of her career. She is the fifth different WVU player to claim a Big 12 weekly honor this season.
Abraham ranks No. 2 on the team with 11 points (4 G, 3 A). Three of her scores this season have been game-winners, a team-best total, and she ranks No. 1 among the Mountaineers with nine career game-winning goals. Abraham ranks No. 3 in the Big 12 with nine points (3 G, 3 A) in conference games.
Abraham was one of 13 West Virginia women’s soccer players named to the Academic All-Big 12 Soccer Team.
Abraham (public health) and fellow senior Bianca St. Georges (exercise physiology) claimed the first-team honor with a 4.00 grade point average (GPA). The duo are two of 19 Big 12 players boasting 4.00 GPAs. The first-team honors are the third career awards for the pair.
The Mountaineers moved up three spots to No. 13 in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women’s National Poll.
