Siteri Tale was named West Co-Player of the Year along with Keara Shrefler of Penn State DuBois.

“I am really honored for the award,” said the Laurel Highlands graduate, who then added she doesn’t want to share it next year. “This will motivate me to work harder next year so I can be the only (player of the year.).”

Jadyn Barnish, Fayette’s Setter, was named the West Newcomer of the Year.

“I am very honored and thankful for making the first team and also for the Newcomer of the Year,” said the Carmichaels grad. “My teammates and coaches have always supported and encouraged me and I am so thankful to have them by my side.

“It is such an honor to receive these awards as a freshman and to be recognized for my hard work.”

Tale and Barnish are joined on the first team by Chanel Porter the team’s Libero.

“I am very thankful for making first team,” said Porter. “I want to thank my coaches and teammates because I wouldn’t have achieved this award without them.”

Second-year Fayette coach Sam Swetz talked about the three players who received honors.

“There was no doubt in my mind about any of them,” she said. “The hard work and dedication they have put into this year has truly paid off.”

The other West first-team members are Shrefler, Courtney Strump (Penn State Mont Alto) and Allix Ellis (Penn State Greater Allegheny).
