Lady Vikings down Lady Falcons in 12 innings, 7-4
Mount Pleasant scored three runs in the top of the 12th inning and held on for a 7-4 non-section victory on Saturday at Connellsville.
Caroline Alincic had 13 strikeouts and no walks, as she came on in the fourth inning to earn the win for the Lady Vikings (2-0, 5-0). Teammates Hannah Gnibus and Autumn Shogan had home runs. Mount Pleasant’s Mary Smithosky also doubled.
Mia Burd had nine strikeouts and no walks for the Lady Falcons (2-2, 3-3) after coming on in the seventh inning. Burd took the loss in the pitching circle, but had three singles.
Connellsville returns to Section 1-AAAAA play on Monday when it hosts Laurel Highlands (1-3, 1-4) at 4 p.m.
