Local athletes excel at Cal U Track Carnival

Stormy weather Friday afternoon didn’t slow down a number of local athletes because a handful won individual titles at the Cal U Track Carnival.

Brownsville’s Gionna Quarzo (1,600, 5:05.67) and Nicholas Seto (triple jump, 42-1), Frazier’s Kendall Shaporka (400, 1:04.90) and Julian Muccioli (long jump, 2-6¼), Beth-Center’s Michael Berdar (high jump, 5-10), Dalton White (shot put, 37-10½), and Jordan Blackburn (discus, 145-2), Albert Gallatin’s Kaylynn Frum (triple jump, 33-6¾) all finished on the top step of the podium.

Shaporka also finished fourth in the 400 with a time of 2:04.95. Frumm placed second in the long jump with a leap of 16-½. Muccioli was fourth in the 100 in 11.68 seconds and second in the triple jump with a jump of 41-11½. Blackburn was second in the javelin with a throw of 132-8, and White was second in the discus with a throw of 120-6.

The Lady Bulldogs’ 3,200 relay (3, 11:45.91), Sydney Urbine (3, 800, 2:38.10), and Mikayla Kanalis (3, javelin, 100-2; 6, shot put, 26-6) all had top-8 finishes.

Beth-Center’s Bryce Lincoski (5, 110 high hurdles, 18.42; 4, 300 intermediate hurdles, 47.27), Nikko Segarra (5, 100, 11.85), Colby Kuhns (7, 400, 57.01), Todd Fisher (8, 400, 57.1), boys 400 relay (4, 48.71), Jacob Sinclair (7, 800, 2:16.43), and Max Malanosky (T-6, long jump, 17-3; 5, triple jump, 36-2½) were in the top-8 in each of their events.

The Lady Commodores’ 3,200 relay (4, 11:51.78), 1,600 relay (5, 4:56.61), Skye Eicher (2, 100, 12.45), 400 relay (7, 58.93), Madison Davis (8, discus, 74-2; 7, shot put, 26-2½), Kristen Langley (7, javelin, 80-8), Ava Moger (8, javelin, 79-6), and Isabella Kudyba (2, 3,200, 14:25.51) finished in the top eight.

Frazier’s Ryan Balentine (2, 110 high hurdles, 16.27; 2, 300 intermediate hurdles, 42.38; 5, 200, 24.56), Patrick Medina-Colazzo (7, 300 intermediate hurdles, 52.48), Kenny Fine (2, high jump, 5-6), Vincenzo Muccioli (6, triple jump, 35-8), and Greg Lynch (6, discus, 104-9; 2, shot put, 37-8¾) placed in the top eight.

Brownsville’s boys 3,200 relay (2, 9:02.21), David Hromada (3, 110 high hurdles, 17.02), Ray Brumley (6, 1,600, 5:12.55; 6, 3,200, 11:31.70), Noah Diggs (8, 800, 2:17.78), Cooper Salvay (7, 200, 24.95), Declan Johnson (3, discus, 119-6½), EJ Victor (5, javelin, 118-11), and Patrick Shumar (6, shot put, 32-9) all had top-8 finishes.

The Lady Falcons’ Jamilah Copeland (3, 100, 13.13; 2, 200, 27.98), Aniya Tarpley (4, 100, 13.42; 2, Aniya Tarpley, 33-3), Ashton Reposky (5, 1,600, 5:52.88), Hannah DeWitt (7, 1,600, 6:11.59), Emma Seto (7, 300 intermediate hurdles, 56.11; 3, high jump, 4-8), Amari Fowler (6, 200, 30.54), and Elise Fields (3, discus, 84-6; 2, shot put, 29-10¼) finished in the top eight.

Albert Gallatin’s boys 3,200 relay (5, 9:19.16) and 400 relay (2, 48.18), Tylar Frezzell (8, 110 high hurdles, 19.33; 4, long jump, 19-1¼), girls 400 relay (5, 57.47), Emily Sanders (2, 300 intermediate hurdles, 50.28), David Wingrove (4, 800, 2:11.14), girls 1,600 relay (6, 5:25.43), Tyler Rothnarmel (T-6, long jump, 17-3), Khalil Tomlin (6, triple jump, 34-5), Elizabeth Murtha (5, discus, 79-1),  Odessa Hillard (6, discus, 77-10; 2, javelin, 108-5; 8, shot put, 25-9½), and Dylan Thomas (7, javelin, 109-11; 3, shot put, 35-6¼) all had top-8 finishes.
