Monessen put six players in double figures and clinched the Section 2-A title with a 96-31 rout at Avella in boys basketball action Saturday.

Darnell Howell led coach Dan Bosnic’s Greyhounds (10-0, 12-7) with 16 points and was followed by Antwon Tucker (14), Devin Whitlock (13), Dishon Howell (12), Marquell Smith (11) and Carlton Jones (10).

Monessen led 26-7, 62-15 and 78-24 at the breaks in extending its section winning streak to 63 games.

Tanner Terenesky and Tyler Cerciello led the fourth-place Eagles (4-6, 6-13) with eight points apiece.
