Pioneers keep playoff hopes alive in 67-38 win over Mapletown

West Greene kept its playoff hopes alive in a 67-38 Section 2-A victory over Mapletown on Monday at West Greene High School.

The Pioneers (4-6, 6-11) had a 19-10 lead after the first quarter, and after outscoring the Maples, 10-6, in the second, for a 29-16 halftime advantage.

West Greene won the third quarter, 18-10, and the fourth, 20-12. The Pioneers’ Joey Reed was the game’s leading scoring with 17 points. He also had five 3-pointers. Teammate Nathan Brudnock had 15 and one three. Gavin Scott made four 3-pointers and added a two-point basket for 14 and Ben Jackson had 12.

Ryan Tuttle and Matt Atwood had 10 points apiece for Mapletown (1-10, 1-19).

The Maples host Hundred, West Virginia, on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
