Baseball

PAC names Woodrow top rookie

Waynesburg freshman catcher Tyler Woodrow was named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Baseball Rookie of the Week after hitting .500 last week.

Woodrow went 11-for-22 with two home runs, a double and triple, and drove in a team-high 10 runs. He also scored six runs.

Softball

Sleith’s performance honored

Saint Vincent sophomore infielder and Yough graduate Alona Sleith was named the PAC Softball Hitter of the Week after leading the Bearcats to a 4-2 record last week.

Sleith had a batting average of .529 (9-for-17) in the final six games at The Spring Games in Clermont, Fla. She had a home run, two doubles, seven RBI and scored four runs in the six games.

Tennis

Cooper recognized by PAC

Waynesburg senior Jonah Cooper was honored as the PAC Tennis Player of the Week after winning a couple matches last week in a 5-3 win over Penn State Harrisburg in Hilton, S.C.

Cooper won in straight sets at first singles and paired with Josh Denham for an 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles.
