By The 2 min read

Savannah Berklovich tie-breaking RBI single in the fifth inning propelled Frazier to a 5-3 softball victory at Belle Vernon in a non-section game Sunday.

The Lady Commodores (1-0) scored once in the first and twice in the second off BV starting pitcher Vanessa Porter to take a 3-0 lead. The Lady Leopards (0-2) tied it with a run in the third and a two-run homer by Sophie Godzak in the fourth.

Courtesy runner Skylar Hone, in for Juliann Johnson, scored on Berklovich’s single to center against losing pitcher Godzak to put Frazier ahead. The visitors tacked on an insurance run in the top of the seventh.

Winning pitcher Logan Hartman allowed three runs on five hits with three walks and nine strikeouts.

Porter gave up three runs on six hits with three walks and three strikeouts. Godzak surrendered two runs on five hits with no walks and three strikeouts.

Berklovich drove in two runs and Emi Curcio and Kathryn Barch each had a double, single and RBI for Frazier. Johnson also doubled and singled, and Megan Celaschi singled twice.

Ashley Joll had an RBI single and Natalie French doubled for Belle Vernon, which also got singles by Jordan French and Ally Pacak.

Both teams played well in the field with the Lady Leopards committing the only error.
