MIkes edge Raiders, 6-4
Waynesburg Central rallied from three down in the top of the fifth, but Carmichaels scored two in the bottom of the inning for a 6-4 non-section victory on Saturday at Carmichaels Area High School.
The Mikes (3-0) scored two in the first and two in the third for a 4-1 lead before the Raiders (1-2) put up a three-spot in the fifth. Carmichaels scored the next two and Drake Long held the visitors off the scoreboard the next two innings for the save.
The Mikes’ Gavin Pratt allowed four runs (two earned) on four hits in five innings for the win. He had five strikeouts and walked two. Long yielded one hit with two strikeouts and two walks.
Carmichaels’ Zach Gamble had a double and three RBIs. He also walked. Teammate Matthew Barrish doubled, had an RBI and scored two runs. The Mikes’ Collin Reynolds had two singles.
Waynesburg Central’s Kyle Shriver and Trevor Stephenson had two hits apiece, including one double. Stephenson also had an RBI. Teammate Ryley Metheny had a solo home run and walked once.
Luke Robinson took the loss after allowing six runs on six hits in five innings. He had eight strikeouts and walked five.
