Cunningham scores OT winner in Lady Falcons’ 3-2 victory over Allderdice
Callie Cunningham scored her second goal in the first overtime to lead Connellsville to a 3-2 Section 3-AAAA victory over Allderdice on Wednesday at Allderdice.
Cunningham recorded an unassisted tally with 2:59 remaining in the first overtime. Cunningham opened the scoring with 31:18 left in the first half after taking a pass from Mary Kate Lape.
The Lady Falcons (7-3, 10-3) took a 1-0 lead into overtime before Lape set up Cayde Koballa for a 2-0 advantage at 36:48 of the second half.
The Lady Dragons’ Payton Feldman cut the deficit to 2-1 on a penalty kick 1:45 later. Teammate Emma Brown tied the match on an unassisted tally with 9:51 left to send the match into overtime.
Connellsville had 15 shots on goal and Allderdice five. The Lady Falcons’ Allison Zavatchan made three saves and Allderdice’s Jillian Blake stopped 12 shots.
Connellsville has already clinched a playoff spot, but it looks to move up in the standings and a lower seed in the postseason when it travels to Penn-Trafford (7-1, 9-3) on Monday at Penn-Trafford. The kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
