Colonials remain alive in playoff race despite loss to BV

First-place Belle Vernon wrapped up Section 3-AAA play with a 4-0 shutout against Albert Gallatin in boys soccer action Thursday night.

Daniel Sassak scored two goals for the Leopards (11-1, 15-1), giving him 27 on the season, and Maverick Selvoski and Tyler Kovatch added one each. TJ Watson stopped three shots in notching the shutout. Belle Vernon led 2-0 at halftime.

The fifth-place Colonials (4-6, 7-6) can still tie Laurel Highlands for fourth and qualify for the postseason with wins over sixth-place Greensburg Salem and second-place Trinity.
