Lady Red Raiders edge Belle Vernon, 3-2
Belle Vernon forced a fifth set after trailing by two, but Uniontown earned a 3-2 victory on Tuesday in Section 3-AAA play at AJ Everhart Memorial Gymnasium.
The Lady Red Raiders edged the Lady Leopards, 15-13, in the decisive fifth set. Uniontown won the first set, 25-22, and the second, 25-14, but Belle Vernon (3-10, 4-12) rallied for a 25-21 triumph in the third and a 25-20 victory in the fourth.
Mya Murray led the Lady Red Raiders in kills with 22 and blocks with 8. Teammate Tyannah Eddings had 18 assists Jada McCargo led in digs with 18. Uniontown’s Summer Hawk added five digs.
Allie Brooks led the Lady Leopards in digs with 13 and service points with 11 and Baileigh Horan was BVA’s leader in kills with nine.
Belle Vernon concluded its season on Thursday when it hosts Yough in Section 3-AAA play at 7 p.m.
