Lady Trojans sweep Bentworth, clinch playoff spot

California clinched a WPIAL playoff spot with a 3-0 sweep of visiting Bentworth in girls volleyball action on Thursday night.

The victory pulls the Lady Trojans into a fourth-place tie with Avella in Section 2-A, both at 7-7. The two teams split during the regular season, meaning both will enter the postseason.

California topped the Bearcats by scores of 25-12, 25-12 and 25-20.

Marlee Renner led the Lady Trojans with 11 kills and three aces. California also got five kills from Elaina Nicholson, four kills and four aces from Ca’mari Walden, four aces from Jordyn Cruse, and two kills and two aces from Ashley Gush.
