Justine Appolonia scored three goals and added a pair of assists as Yough blasted Highlands, 10-1, in a WPIAL Class AA girls soccer first-round match at Penn-Trafford on Monday night.

The Lady Cougars also got two goals apiece from Hadley Sleith and Hannah Biros.

Yough advances to the quarterfinals where it will play fourth-seeded Burrell on Thursday with the site and time to be determined.

Freeport 2, Waynesburg Central 1 — Sidney Shemanski scored her second goal of the night in overtime to lift Freeport over Waynesburg in a WPIAL Class AA first-round match at Plum.

Burrell 5, Mount Pleasant 0 — Fourth-seeded Burrell got two goals from Allie Vescio on its way to a WPIAL Class AA first-round win over Mount Pleasant at Kiski.

Hampton 7, Elizabeth Forward 0 — Logan Niklas scored two first-half goals as Hampton jumped out to a 5-0 lead over visiting Elizabeth Forward and went on to blank the Lady Warriors in a WPIAL Class AAA first-round match.

Kiski 11, Ringgold 0 — Kiski shut out Ringgold in a WPIAL Class AAA first-round match at Kiski.

Butler 6, Connellsville 0 — Gabby Boden scored two goals and McKenna Robinson added four assists as host Butler surged to a 4-0 halftime lead and went on to shut out Connellsville in a WPIAL Class AAAA first-round match.
