Zambrunos, GCC girls win PIAA golf title

Meghan Zambruno shot 77 Wednesday as the Greensburg Central Catholic girls successfully defended their PIAA Class AA Team Championship crown.

Girls teams normally play five and count four scores, but counted only three in the state final. The Lady Centurions finished with a team total of 32-over 248.

Ella Zambruno shot 83 and Angelika Dewicki finished with 88 to close out the scoring.

Olivia Kana (116) and Abby Lint (138) did not factor in the final score.

Hickory finished second with a team total of 36-over 252. Villa Maria (263), Elk Lake (275), Central Cambria (299), and Camp Hill (328) also competed in the Class AA championship.

Mt. St. Joseph’s won the girls Class AAA title with a score of 25-over 241.

Sewickley Academy won the boys Class AA team title with 36-over 320, edging Scranton Prep by a single stroke. Fox Chapel won the boys Class AAA crown with an even-par 284.
