South Fayette eliminates Lady Warriors in volleyball playoffs

Third-seeded South Fayette overwhelmed No. 11 Elizabeth Forward, 3-0, in a WPIAL Class AAA quarterfinal match at Canon-McMillan High School on Monday night.

The Lady Lions (16-1) won the first seven points in the first set in rolling to a 25-14 win.

The Lady Warriors (12-5) fought back in the second set and took a 13-8 lead but South Fayette out-scored EF 17-5 the rest of the way for a 25-18 win and a 2-0 advantage.

The Lady Lions put the match away with a 25-16 win in the third set.

South Fayette will play second-seeded Thomas Jefferson, a 3-1 winner over Chartiers Valley, in the Wednesday’s semifinals with the site and time to be determined.
