Lady Scots’ Ohler places 10th in WCCA meet
Southmoreland’s Lexi Ohler ran to all-county honors Wednesday afternoon in the WCCA Cross Country Championship at Westmoreland County Community College.
Ohler, the only Lady Scot runner in the meet, placed 10th overall with a time of 19:57.1.
Kiski Area’s Eliza Miller won the county title in 17:59.7. Penn-Trafford’s Amelia Barilla (18:28.4), Norwin’s Annie Czajkowski (18:49.5), Latrobe’s Emerson Skatell (18:59.1), and Franklin Regional’s Caroline Shirley (19:19.4) rounded out the top five.
The Norwin girls easily won the team title with 37 points.
Yough finished 10th with 325 points. Jesse Dermotta (35, 22:13.2), Lexis Smith (63, 28:36.5), Jada Ford (65, 31:10.8), Hailey Huber (67, 33:30.5), and Ava Schade (68, 33:44.5) ran for Yough.
Logan Deluca was the top runner for the Southmoreland boys, placing 54th in 20:43.2. Selby Bell finished 62nd with a time of 21:35.6 and Joe Roadman was 77th in 27:58.5.
Yough’s Bryce Chamberlain was 61st in 21:23.5. Garrett Hummel (63, 21:42.9), Sebastian Babines (67, 21:56.5), Max Ludwich (72, 24:23.1), Rex Schade (79, 28:59.4), and Garrett Hosey (80, 29:24.4) also ran for the Cougars, who placed 10th with 325 points.
Kiski Area’s Samuel Plazio won the boys race with a time of 16:20.5. The rest of the top-5 finishers were Franklin Regional’s Nathan Kociela (16:32.2), Greensburg C.C.’s Nick Szekely (16:39.5), Norwin’s Luke Simpson (16:42.5), and Norwin’s Enzo Jiancristoforo (16:45.8).
Norwin won the team title with 41 points.
