Brownsville boys, girls win twice in section triangular
The Brownsville boys and girls both defeated Monessen and Bentworth in a Section 6-AA meet hosted by Waynesburg Central.
The Falcons downed Monessen, 100-27, and Bentworth, 81-49. Waynesburg cruised to a 124-17 win over the Greyhounds.
The Brownsville girls defeated Monessen, 94-12, and the Lady Bearcats, 74-55. Waynesburg Central breezed to a 128-16 win over the Lady Greyhounds.
Brownsville’s Zhariah Reed (100 high hurdles, 16.96; 300 intermediate hurdles, 48.97), Azyia Dade (100, 12.96; 200, 27.48), 400 relay (52.62), Isabella Talpas (400, 1:24.87), Caitlin Miske (triple jump, 27-10), Alexa Lewandowsky (discus, 89-1; shot put, 28-2), and Elizabeth McCune (javelin, 70-6) had overall first-place finishes against Bentworth and Monessen.
Bentworth’s 3,200 relay (12:31.30), Jesse Laskey (1,600, 6:27.52), Riley Nicholls (800, 3:16.29), Amber Sallee (3,200, 14:49.43), 1,600 relay (5:02.17), Grace Sheehan (long jump, 12-4), and Elizabeth Wade (4-6) finished first against Brownsville.
Monessen’s 400 relay (53.74) and Hailey Johnson (long jump, 14-8) placed first against Brownsville and Waynesburg.
The Lady Raiders’ 3,200 relay, Lake Litwinovich (100 high hurdles, 18.65; 300 intermediate hurdles, 52.39), Kali Shriver (100, 13.43), Reiley Shultz (1,600, 6:52.76), Rylei Rastoka (400, 1:10.60), Bella Haas (800, 3:09.59), Lelia McCollum (200, 29.36), Kaylee Ayers (3,200, 16:52.80), 1,600 relay (5:05.55), Railey Bochna (high jump, 4-10; long jump, 15-2½; triple jump, 29-10), Cheyenne Pierson (discus, 79-5; shot put, 29-6), Brynn Kirby (javelin, 101-0), and Ember Weber (pole vault, 7-0) finished first against the Lady Greyhounds.
The Falcons’ Levi Grogan (100, 11.43; long jump, 19-1½), 400 relay (45.30), Cameron Phillips (400, 54.30), Matthew Sethman (800, 2:29.85), Camden Wellington (200, 23.84), 1,600 relay (4:02.43), Maxime Dieudonne (high jump, 5-8), and Elijah Booker (discus, 103-1) had overall first-place finishes against Bentworth and Monessen.
The Bearcats’ 3,200 relay (10:48.88), Ryan Colbert (1,600, 5:26.99), Leo Schrader (300 intermediate hurdles, 57.89; 3,200, 12:59.34), and Alexander Rusilko (shot put, 38-7; javelin, 85-11) finished first against Brownsville.
Waynesburg’s 3,200 relay (9:42.29), Ace Litwinovich (110 high hurdles, 17.48), Will Maxwell (1,600, 5:28.47), 400 relay (45.18), Zack Andrews (300 intermediate hurdles, 43.29), Franklin Thompson (800, 2:33.11), Chase Fox (200, 24.17), Franklin Thompson (3,200, 13:09.22), 1,600 relay (3:48.91), Jack Ricciuti (high jump, 6-0), Braden Coon (long jump, 19-0; triple jump, 36-5), Jeffrey Blair (discus, 113-0), Duncan Barto (shot put, 39-6), Dalton Taylor (javelin, 133-10), and Mason Schroyer (pole vault, 13-0) were first-place finishers against the Greyhounds.
Monessen’s TyVaughn Kershaw (100, 11.83), Dennis Hawkins (400, 55.95), and Rodney Johnson (javelin, 99-0) finished first against Waynesburg and Brownsville.
California (boys) 101, West Greene 4 – The Trojans breezed to a Section 6-AA victory over the Pioneers.
Noah Neil (110 high hurdles, 18.59; triple jump, 36-4; high jump, 5-5), Lee Qualk (100, 11.53; 200, 24.01; long jump, 19-7), Carter Kent (1,600, 4:50.13; 800, 2:18.36), 400 relay (46.29), Ethan Coble (400, 57.90), Dylan Henry (shot put, 32-1½), and Fred Sherman (discus, 102-10; javelin, 134-5) all secured first-place finishes for California.
California (girls) 87, West Greene 23 – The Lady Trojans were solid throughout the lineup for a Section 6-AA victory.
Rakiyah Porter (100 high hurdles, 18.59), Lucia Meiss (1,600, 7:03.74; 3,200, 17:01.17), 400 relay (53.24), Gianna Smith (400, 1:06.29; 800, 2:52.85), Ella Neil (high jump, 4-11; triple jump, 30-9), and Haley Gibson (shot put, 30-7; discus, 70-2; javelin, 81-2) finished first for California.
West Greene’s Eryka Hackney won the 100 in 13.83 seconds, 200 in 29.21 seconds, and long jump with a top effort of 14-5, and was a close second in the 400 with a time of 1:06.96.
