Lady Bearcats down visiting Mapletown, 62-41
The Bentworth girls built a 13-point lead in the first quarter and didn’t look back for a 62-41 non-section win Wednesday against visiting Mapletown.
The Lady Bearcats (5-17) led 22-9 after the first quarter and 37-23 at halftime.
Bentworth’s Amber Sallee made five 3-pointers to finish with a team-high 23 points. She also had seven assists.
Teammate Ava Massucci made four 3-pointers for 16 points. Gianna Brown pulled down 10 rebounds.
Isabella Garnek scored a game-high 26 points for Mapletown (6-13).
Uniontown 53, Carmichaels 32 – The Lady Raiders scored 33 points in the first half for a non-section victory over visiting Carmichaels.
Uniontown led 21-10, 33-16 and 43-27 at the quarter breaks.
The Lady Raiders’ A’Kira Dade scored a game-high 22 points. Lyric McLee finished with 13 points and Geelece Ingram added 12.
The Lady Mikes’ Alayna Simon scored nine points.
Boys basketball
West Greene 49, Carmichaels 33 – The Mikes fell behind early and were not able to rally in a non-section home loss to visiting West Greene.
Lane Allison scored a game-high 27 points and Parker Burns added 10 for the Pioneers.
Aydan Adamson led Carmichaels with 15 points. Dom Colarusso finished with 10 points.
Albert Gallatin 76, Ligonier Valley 61 – The Colonials returned home with a non-section victory over the Rams.
Albert Gallatin (9-10) led 50-47 after three quarters and then secured the win with a 26-14 advantage in the final quarter.
Shymere Wilson paced the Colonials with 22 points. Mekhi Belt (20), Tyrone Burton (12), and Blake White (11) also scored in double figures.
Parker Hollick scored a game-high 29 points for the Rams (4-17). Michael Vargulish-Graver added 11.
Ringgold 61, South Park 55 – The Rams fended off a second-half rally by the visiting Eagles for a non-section home win.
Ringgold led 33-24 at halftime. South Park cut the deficit to 47-41 at the end of the third quarter.
Demitri Lowe (14), Aidan Angotti (13), Daryl Tolliver (12), and Szyair Dungee (11) all scored in double figures for the Rams.
South Park’s Luke Scarff scored a game-high 19 points. Cooper Hocendonner finished with 15 and Danny Battista added 12.
Bentworth 73, Mapletown 57 – Chris Harper, Ryan Moessner, Lucas Burt and Ben Hays combined for 64 points to lead the Bearcats to a non-section home win.
Harper scored a game-high 25 points for Bentworth (4-16). Moessner finished with 15 points, Burt contributed 13 points and Hays added 10.
Josh Mick led the Maples (2-17) with 16 points. Braden McIntire scored 15 and Roger Gradek added 12.
Girls wrestling
Burrell 27, Southmoreland 24 – The Lady Scots came up short in a non-section loss to visiting Burrell.
Mya Marrazza (142) and Montana Trout (148) both had first-period pins. Lucy Bevan (118) and Zoey Murphy (235) received forfeits.
Women’s basketball
California (Pa.) 78, Seton Hill 69 – The Vulcans pulled away in the middle two quarters for a PSAC West Conference road victory.
California improves to 15-7 in the conference and 16-6 overall. The Griffins go to 9-7 in the PSAC West and 12-10 overall.
The Vulcans led 39-33 at halftime and 57-46 at the end of the third quarter.
California’s Dejah Terrell finished with a game-high 36 points and 13 rebounds. Sierra Bermudez scored 15 points and Allycia Harris added 14.
Christiane Frye scored 22 points for Seton Hill.Helene Cowan (16), Hallie Cowan (11), and Sakeria Haralson (10) also finished in double figures.
Men’s basketball
California (Pa.) 100, Seton Hill 93 – The Vulcans outscored the Griffins in the second half, 60-53, for a PSAC-West Conference road victory.
Six players scored double figures for California (13-3, 19-3), led by KJ McClurg’s 21 points. Zyan Collins (20), Keith Palek III (18), Bryson Lucas (17), Donald Whitehead Jr. (12), and Jermaine Hall Jr. (12) also scored in double digits.
Dimitrios Sklavenitis paced the Griffins (7-9, 12-10) with 16 points. Kedrick Curtis (13), Jimmy Moon (12), Ryan Meis (11), and Sean Dillon (11) also finished in double figures.
