Mill Run opens FCBL season with 11-2 road win
Wyatt Nehls finished with three hits and Alan VanSickle pitched four strong innings to lead Mill Run to an 11-2 road victory Sunday afternoon against WBAC in Fayette County Baseball League action.
The game was tied at 1-1 after two innings when Mill Run scored five runs in the top of the third inning.
The visitors added a cushion with five runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Nehls was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle. He drove in two runs and scored two runs.
Josh Burns, Luke Warrick and Marc Prinkey all had doubles for Mill Run (1-0). Tanner Orndorff finished with two hits and two RBI. Prinkey also drove in two runs.
VanSickle started and allowed two earned runs on three hits with three walks and three strikeouts in four innings. Beau Bigam picked up the save with three scoreless innings.
Aidan Ochs led WBAC (0-2) with two hits and two RBI.
Oakland (Md.) 10, Sewickley Twp. 3 – The Oaks scored two runs in the top of the first inning and didn’t look back for a FCBL road victory in the first game of a doubleheader.
Oakland (1-0) increased its lead to 6-0 in the third inning and 9-0 in the top of the fourth inning.
Sewickley Twp. scored all three of its runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Casey Tomasik earned the victory.
Oakland’s Alex Kennell doubled, singled and drove in three runs. Bryce Sndyer and Cameron Goble both finished with two hits and two RBI, and Alex Beiler doubled.
Christian Park, Jakob Krunimaker and Nick DeSantis all drove in one run for the home team.
Oakland (Md.) 12, Sewickley Twp. 0 – The Oaks completed the doubleheader sweep with a victory in the second game.
Oakland (2-0) scored five runs in the top of the first inning. The lead grew to 8-0 in the second inning and 9-0 in the third.
The visitors invoked the mercy rule with four runs, three scoring on Cole Parker’s home run, in the top of the fourth inning for the five-inning victory.
Parker powered the Oaks with the home run, a double and five RBI. Alex Kennell drove in two runs. Cameron Goble and Tanner Haskiell both doubled.
Ty Wickline picked up the win.
Carson Pasinski finished with a double and single for Sewickley Twp.
Fayette American Legion
Belle Vernon 17, Unity Twp. 3 — Belle Vernon put the American Legion non-league game away with 12 runs in the final two innings Saturday for a victory at Unity Twp.
Belle Vernon (3-0, 4-0) led 5-3 after five innings. The visitors added five runs in the top of the sixth inning and seven more in the seventh.
Cole Matusik led the way for Belle Vernon with two hits, four RBI and two runs scored. Carson Matusik drive in three runs and scored twice. Kayden Faychak finished with two singles, three RBI and scored three runs.
Belle Vernon’s Jake Wessell contributed two doubles, a single, two runs scored and an RBI, and was walked twice. AJ Grese and Kole Doppelheuer both had two hits and two RBI. Charlie Nigut walked three times and scored three times.
