Miller’s arm, bat lead Connellsville to 6-0 road win

Connellsville’s Matthew Miller threw a complete-game three-hitter in Monday’s 6-0 victory at Colonial 3 in Fayette County American Legion Baseball League action.
Miller didn’t walk a batter and struck out eight. He finished with two hits and drove in two runs, including a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning.
Connellsville (10-3) scored twice in the top of the first inning, one run coming home on Cohen Groh’s single. Cohen drove in two runs and Noah Zawislan finished with two hits.
Jeremiah McDonald, Ben Vojacek and Hunter Pelehac all had one hit for Colonial 3 (4-8-1). Pelehac took the loss, allowing four runs on six hits in three innings. He walked three and struck out two.
Uniontown 14, Waynesburg 3 – Uniontown pulled away with four runs in the top of the fourth inning for a Fayette County American Legion Baseball League road victory.
Clay Dean’s double brought home the final two runs of the four-run fourth inning.
Uniontown added to its lead with six runs in the top of the fifth inning.
The visitors invoked the mercy rule in the sixth inning on Wyatt Nehls’ three-run home run.
Tate Musko spotted the visitors the lead with a solo home run in the top of the first inning. Waynesburg tied the game with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Musko paced Uniontown with three hits, four runs scored and two RBI. Nehls finished with two hits, four RBI and two hits. Dean added two hits and two RBI.
Winning pitcher Shane Layton had two hits, scored two runs and drove in two runs. Layton started and pitched four innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits with three walks and four strikeouts.
Collin Bisceglia, Jarrett Tretinik, Nick Willard and Morgan Kiger all had one hit for Waynesburg. Bisceglia and Willard drove in one run apiece.
